This stunning image depicts the Blessed Mother, according to Catholic beliefs, being bodily assumed into Heaven at the end of her earthly life. Her acceptance into the glory of Heaven is viewed as a symbol of the promise Jesus made to all enduring Christians.

Pope Pius XII declared the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on November 1, 1950, a feast celebrated on August 15 each year. Essentially, this dogma affirms that at the end of her life, Mary was taken into Heaven both body and soul.
