Missionary Rosary

In February of 1951, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen (national director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith from 1950 to 1966), inaugurated a World Mission Rosary.

“We must pray, and not for ourselves, but for the world. To this end, I have designed the World Mission Rosary. Each of the five decades is of a different color to represent the continents.”

The Mission Rosary has a colour-coded decade for each continent where the Church continues her mission.

Green for the forests and grasslands of Africa

Blue for the ocean surrounding the Island of the Pacific

White symbolizing Europe, the seat of the Holy Father, shepherd of the world

Red calling to mind the fire of faith that brought missionaries to the America

Yellow is for the morning light of East, Asia.

It’s a wonderful way to relate to the world around us and gain an understanding of what it means to belong to the Universal Church.

Our rosaries are finely crafted using "ring caps" method. The method uses jump rings to increase strength of wire-beads connection and improve overall structural integrity of the rosary. Many beautiful and well-preserved antique rosaries were constructed in this style. In addition, ring caps allow your rosary to have a wonderful drape, that is how easily the rosary will curl up in your hand.
